Mackenzie Bison Sanctuary : A 10,000 square kilometre reserve, stretching from Great Slave Lake to the Frontier Hwy protects 2000+ bison. It is the world's largest bison herd and was the first successful bison relocation program recorded in North America. [ more information ] Chan Lake Day Use Area : A rest stop and picnic site. There are picnic tables, a kitchen shelter and pit toilets. The park is primarily a summer park and does not operate during the winter months. Camping, sightseeing, birdwatching and fishing are popular. Services include power, picnic shelters, picnic tables, fresh water taps, sani dump, firewood and showers.
