Air

Whitehorse, Yukon and Yellowknife, NWT have scheduled flights to Fort Simpson. Charter flights, regional airlines and flightseeing tours operate from Fort Simpson Airport. Airport is located 15 kilometres on the mainland (back across the ferry). There is a private airport in town for tour companies. Floatplane charters operate from bases on the Mckenzie River in Fort Simpson.

River Ferry

The Liard River Ferry on the Mackenzie Highway reconnects the highway and continues to Fort Simpson and Wrigley. The ferry is a cable ferry and free of charge. Ferry operates in the summer months and during the winter vehicles cross an ice bridge to access rest of highway and Fort Simpson.
