Hay River Territorial Park

The Hay River Territorial Park is a day use area and campground located in the community of Hay River, Northwest Territory, Canada. The park fronts onto a long sandy beach on the shores of Great Slave Lake providing far reaching views and opportunities to watch the marine activity on the lake.

The beach park is very active during the summer season. Not so active during the winter season as services are closed. However the trails and beachfront are still accessible which is good news for cross country skiing and for accessing the lake for ice fishing and snowmobiling.

During the summer the Hay River Territorial Park is a central point of beach activity in the community of Hay River, NWT.

Some of the more popular activities enjoyed in the park and on Great Slave Lake include fishing, boating, sailing, jet skiing, canoeing, kayaking, camping, water skiing, swimming, hiking, volleyball, picnicking and sightseeing.

The Hay River Territorial Park campground includes campsites with picnic tables, fire pits and firewood. There are showers, washrooms, playground, sandy beach, picnic shelters, power, boat launch, fresh water taps, sani station and group buildings. And there are campground fees.

The beach area for the campground and day use area also enjoys some amenities. There are picnic shelters, picnic tables, BBQ pits, fire pits, a playground and beach volleyball courts. During the summer months a concession stand operates in the park serving up park food.

The campground operates from May to September.

How to Get to Hay River Territorial Park

Travel to the community of Hay River, N.W.T., Canada on the Waterfall Highway (Hwy #1). Continue through the downtown sector and cross the bridge onto Vale Island. Turn left onto 104th Street. On your right will be the entrance sign to the park.
