Chan Lake Day Use AreaChan Lake is a day use only park located 123 kilometres (mile 77) north of the Frontier Highway (Hwy #3) and Waterfall Highway (Hwy #1) intersection. The park is a popular stop for travelers exploring between the communities of Fort Providence and Yellowknife, N.W.T., Canada. Chan Lake Day Use Area is a rest stop and picnic site. There are picnic tables, a kitchen shelter and pit toilets. There is no camping and no access to the lake from the park. The park is primarily a summer park and does not operate during the winter months. Chan Lake is on the migratory path of many birds. During the spring and fall birdwatchiing seasons the lake is a birding destination for various waterfowl like ducks, geese, loons and swans. Continue traveling north from the community for 87 kilometres to the entrance of the day use park on your right. |
