There are no summer highways to Norman Wells. HOWEVER ... a winter ice road forms in the winter months connecting Fort Simpson to the remote community of Norman Wells.

River

There is river access to Norman Wells exploring the Mackenzie River. From Yellowknife, Fort Simpson and Fort Providence canoes and boats can access the river and then boat or paddle to Norman Wells.

Air

Daily scheduled flights arrive from Calgary, Edmonton, Yellowknife and Inuvik at the airport which has a paved 1800 meter runway.

Floatplanes come and go from the Mackenzie River.
