Historical Air Freighter: A historical monument with a Bristol Air Freighter and a picnic area. The freighter was retired in 1968 after it was the first wheeled plane to touch down at the North Pole. An event documented in the history books on May of 1967. [ more information ] Cameron Falls Trail : A 1.2 kilometre one way hiking trail located in the Hidden Lakes Territorial Park on the Ingraham Trail. The hiking trail leads to a viewpoint overlooking a 17 metre waterfall, Cameron River, a suspension bridge and a canyon. [ more information ] Chan Lake Day Use Area : A rest stop and picnic site located on the Frontier Highway (Hwy #3) south of Yellowknife. There are picnic tables, a kitchen shelter and pit toilets. It is an easy grade, easily accessible recreation route with views of the Yellowknife city centre and Frame Lake. Popular for hiking, jogging, biking, dog walking, birdwatching, canoeing and more. [ more information ] Fred Henne Territorial Park: A day use area with a white sandy beach (Long Lake Beach) and a campground park located near the community of Yellowknife. Popular for swimming, canoeing, boating, sailing, camping and much more. [ more information ] Hidden Lake Territorial Park: A 3000 hectare wilderness park protecting a network of rivers, tributaries, wetlands, wildlife and lakes located on the Ingraham Trail (Hwy#4). It is a popular destination for fishing, canoeing and kayaking adventures. [ more information ] Madeline Lake Day Use Area : Madeline Lake is a picnic site and a boat launch located on the Ingraham Trail (Hwy #4). The boat launch is used to access, both, Madeline and Prosperous Lakes. [ more information ] Niven Lake Trail: A short 2 kilometre loop trail circling a small lake with viewpoints, interpretive signs and sitting benches. The lake trail is popular for hiking, dog walking, jogging and birdwatching. [ more information ] North Arm Day Use Area : The park is a picnic site, boat launch and a rest stop for weary drivers traveling the Frontier Highway (Hwy #3). Park is located on the shores of Great Slave Lake. Activities include picnicking, sailing, canoeing, boating and fishing. [ more information ] Pilot Monument Lookout: Dedicated to the bush pilots and engineers of the 1930s and 40s who lost their lives. There is a lookout which provides 360 degree views of Great Slave Lake, Old Town, Yellowknife, Back Bay, Frame Lake and Jolliffe Island. [ more information ] Prelude Lake Territorial Park: A day use and campground park with hiking trails, boat launch and beach area. Activities enjoyed in the park include swimming, canoeing, sailing, kayaking, hiking, boating, fishing and camping. [ more information ] Prospector Trail: The 4 kilometre loop trail is an easy going, 2 hour hike exploring and learning about the rocks of the Canadian Shield and the pioneer gold rush that help create the community of Yellowknife. [ more information ] Prosperous Lake: A boat launch and long pier located on the Ingraham Trail (Hwy #4). The boat launch is used to access a chain of lakes summer and winter. Activities include fishing, boating, canoeing, kayaking, ice fishing and snowmobiling. [ more information ] Range Lake Trail & Parker Park: A hiking trail exploring the shores of Range Lake.
